Sun dried robusta from smallholder gardens at 500 to 900 m in western Bali, hand sorted rather than machine polished, screening 13 up with 16 up on request. The mildest robusta on our list, usually taken by buyers who already contract Bali arabica and want one island across both lines, at whichever grade their recipe is built on.
Who buys this lot
Buyers who already contract our Kintamani arabica and want both lines from one island for a story their customers can follow, plus blenders looking for a gentle robusta that adds body without a hard edge. It is not a volume lot: the crop is small and hand sorting limits throughput, so it suits recipe work rather than soluble extraction.
Hand sorting and grading
Cherry is sun dried in the gardens where it grows, hulled, and hand sorted rather than run through a polisher, which is what makes the low defect grades slow to accumulate here. A 300 g count then sets the grade under SNI 01-2907, from 11 defect values or fewer at Grade 1 to 151 to 225 at Grade 6, with screen retention measured separately at 13 up. Moisture is finished at 12.5% maximum and re-checked in Jakarta before stuffing.
Allocation, packing, and shipping
60 kg jute bags with container liner and desiccant, minimum a half container at 9.6 MT or 160 bags, because the Bali crop is small and allocated. Coffee moves by road and ferry to Surabaya or Jakarta for stuffing, giving a three to four week lead time. Harvest runs June to September.
Grades we quote on this robusta
Robusta runs the same SNI 01-2907 defect ladder as arabica, with Grade 4 split into 4a and 4b because that is where most export volume trades. Screen size is contracted separately from grade, so any row below can ship screen 13 up or screen 16 up depending on what your roaster or extraction line is set for.

Which grades come out of the Pupuan lots?
The full ladder from Grade 1 to Grade 6, but the volume behind each grade is small, because hand sorting rather than machine polishing limits throughput and Grade 1 is the slowest to accumulate. The practical order is half a container of 9.6 MT per grade. Most buyers take Grade 1 or 2 here for recipe work and leave extraction volume to our Sumatra and Sulawesi robusta.
What is the minimum order for Bali robusta green coffee?
A half container, 9.6 MT or 160 bags of 60 kg, because the crop from Pupuan and Tabanan is small and allocated rather than sold from open stock. Buyers taking both this lot and our Kintamani arabica often combine the two into one 20 ft container on the same booking.
Why is this robusta hand sorted rather than machine polished?
The lots come from smallholder gardens in quantities too small to justify a polishing line, so defects are removed by hand after hulling. Hand sorting can reach Grade 1 at 11 defect values or fewer per 300 g, just slowly, and the beans keep a slightly duller surface than a polished Lampung lot without any effect on the cup.
Does this pair with your Kintamani arabica on one contract?
Yes, and that is how most buyers take it. Both come from Bali, both are allocated in half container volumes, and combining them fills a single 20 ft container on one booking with one set of documents. Each lot keeps its own lot number, grading sheet, and retained sample.
Is Bali robusta suitable for soluble coffee extraction?
It is the mildest robusta we carry at 2.0 to 2.4% caffeine and the volume per grade is limited, so soluble plants are usually better served by our Sumatra or Sulawesi robusta at 4a or 4b. This one suits blenders who want gentle robusta body in a recipe rather than manufacturers optimising extraction yield per tonne.
