This selection gathers our five green robusta origins for buyers who process rather than retail: soluble coffee plants, liquid and freeze dried extract producers, and roasters blending for body and crema. The specifications that matter here are the defect grade under SNI 01-2907, screen retention, moisture, and caffeine, and all four are published per shipment. Most extraction contracts run at Grade 4a or 4b, where the cup is rebuilt after processing anyway, though every grade from 1 to 6 is available. Volume is contracted monthly rather than sold as one-off containers.

What an extraction plant should specify

Start with moisture, because it drives both yield and storage risk: we hold 12.5% maximum after re-drying at the mill and verify it again in Jakarta before stuffing. Then screen uniformity, since mixed bean sizes roast unevenly and shift the extraction curve between batches. Then the defect grade, which runs from 11 defect values per 300 g at Grade 1 to 225 at Grade 6, with most extraction contracts sitting at 4a or 4b, 45 to 80. Caffeine last, ranging 2.0 to 2.8% dry basis by island, with Kolaka and Lampung at the top of the range.

Which island suits which plant

Lampung: EK-1 screen, largest volume, lowest landed cost. Kolaka: caffeine 2.3 to 2.8%, EK-1 screen. Java: screen 13 up, milder profile. Bali and Flores: smaller allocations for second-source supply security.

Most robusta buyers work on a season contract with a shipment schedule rather than spot containers, and pricing is quoted against the London robusta futures market plus a differential for grade and island. Which Indonesian robusta specification should a soluble plant ask for?

Moisture at 12.5% maximum, EK-1 screen 16 up or screen 13 up, a defect grade from the SNI 01-2907 ladder (4a and 4b, 45 to 80 defect values per 300 g, is where most extraction contracts sit), and a stated caffeine range. Ask for the figures per shipment rather than a general grade claim, because they are what your intake laboratory will verify.

Which robusta lot gives the highest caffeine for extraction?

Kolaka from Southeast Sulawesi at 2.3 to 2.8% on a dry basis, followed by Lampung at 2.2 to 2.7%. Java, Bali, and Flores run 2.0 to 2.6%. Laboratory analysis of caffeine on the specific lot can be provided for extraction contracts where yield per tonne drives the purchase decision.

Can you supply a second robusta origin for supply security?

Yes. Buyers who take Lampung as their main line often add Java or Kolaka as a second source so a regional crop or logistics problem does not stop production. Bali and Flores lots are smaller allocations that work as a third line. All ship on the same grading standard and paperwork.
