Lot overview
Sun dried robusta from Garut and Temanggung at 400 to 900 m, density and colour sorted, screening 13 up with 16 up available on request. Milder and less aggressive than Lampung, which makes it the usual choice for espresso blends that want body and crema without a dominant robusta edge, at whichever defect grade the recipe or the extraction line is costed on.
Who buys this lot
Roasters building espresso and traditional blends who want robusta body and crema without the heavier edge of a Lampung lot, and manufacturers who need certified robusta volume for a customer commitment. It is also taken as a second robusta origin by buyers whose main line is Lampung, so a regional crop problem does not halt production.
Grading and sorting
Sun dried lots are density and colour sorted to pull out blacks, sours, and foreign matter, then re-dried to 12.5% moisture maximum before a 300 g sample sets the grade under SNI 01-2907, from 11 defect values or fewer at Grade 1 to 151 to 225 at Grade 6. Screen retention is measured separately at 13 up as standard. Moisture is verified again in Jakarta before stuffing, and grade, screen, and moisture are all printed on the grading sheet.
Packing, minimum, and shipping
60 kg jute bags with container liner and desiccant, 320 bags to a 20 ft container at 19.2 MT, minimum one container per grade. Loading through Tanjung Priok in Jakarta or Tanjung Perak in Surabaya, with a two to three week lead time. Harvest runs June to October and the coffee is available year round from warehouse stock.

Robusta runs the same SNI 01-2907 defect ladder as arabica, with Grade 4 split into 4a and 4b because that is where most export volume trades. Screen size is contracted separately from grade, so any row below can ship screen 13 up or screen 16 up depending on what your roaster or extraction line is set for.

How much Java robusta should go into an espresso blend?
Most Italian style recipes use ten to thirty percent, which adds body, lowers perceived acidity, and thickens the crema. This lot is milder than our Lampung robusta, so it sits at the higher end of that range without taking over the cup. Trial two ratios on 500 g samples before fixing the recipe.
Which grades and screens does this Java robusta ship in?
Every grade from 1 to 6, including the 4a and 4b split, with screen contracted separately. Garut and Temanggung produce a smaller bean than Lampung or Kolaka, so 13 up is the standard screen and 16 up is available on request rather than from stock. If your specification demands EK-1 screen 16 at a low defect count, our Sumatra or Sulawesi robusta fills it more easily and this coffee works as the blend component.
Is certified robusta available from Java?
Yes, under 4C and Rainforest Alliance on the producer group certificate, alongside ISO 22000 covering our Jakarta warehouse and grading operation. The transaction certificate number travels with the shipment. Certified volume is allocated at harvest and contracted at the lower defect grades first, so book before the June to October picking window.
Is this green robusta available outside the harvest window?
Yes, it is held in warehouse stock year round and ships in two to three weeks from contract. Moisture is checked again before stuffing regardless of how long a lot has been in store, and the crop year is stated on the grading sheet so you always know the age of the coffee you are buying.
