Lot overview
Garut and Temanggung robusta roasted at Agtron whole bean 42 to 52, one step back from our Sumatran profile so a blend gains body and crema without a burnt edge. Rainforest Alliance and 4C certified, ground to espresso, moka, or vending on request, on green from whichever grade the programme is costed at.
The roast and where it is used
Agtron whole bean 42 to 52, with 44 to 50 as our default, one step lighter than our Sumatran dark, which is what buyers ask for when a recipe needs crema and body but the finished cup has to stay smooth. It is the usual robusta in moka and filter blends sold to households, where a harder profile would read as burnt in a home brewer.
Certified volume for retail commitments
Rainforest Alliance and 4C certified from the producer group through to the roastery, so a certified claim can appear on the finished pack rather than only in the green contract. Transaction certificates ship with the goods. Certified robusta volume is allocated at harvest, so retail programmes should contract ahead of the June to October crop.
Minimum, blending, and lead time
1,000 kg per roast profile and grade, and a blend recipe containing it counts as its own profile. Lead time is two weeks with dispatch within seven days of roast. We blend it with our Java or Sumatran arabica before or after roasting and hold the finished recipe as a named profile, green grades included, so reorders repeat exactly.
Grades we quote on this robusta
Robusta runs the same SNI 01-2907 defect ladder as arabica, with Grade 4 split into 4a and 4b because that is where most export volume trades. Screen size is contracted separately from grade, so any row below can ship screen 13 up or screen 16 up depending on what your roaster or extraction line is set for.
| Grade | Defect value per 300 g | What buyers use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Grade 1 | 11 maximum | Espresso blends and premium soluble, normally taken screen 16 up |
| Grade 2 | 12 to 25 | Standard espresso and roast and ground blends for retail |
| Grade 3 | 26 to 44 | Volume blends, vending, and three in one mixes |
| Grade 4a | 45 to 60 | Grade 4a: soluble and extract, 45 to 60 defect values |
| Grade 4b | 61 to 80 | Soluble and instant production where yield matters more than cup |
| Grade 5 | 81 to 150 | Liquid coffee extract and low cost instant lines |
| Grade 6 | 151 to 225 | Industrial extraction, caffeine recovery, and non beverage use |
Frequently asked questions
Ordering, samples, shipping, and payment.
Which green grade is used for this roasted Java robusta?
Your choice from Grade 1 to 6. Retail blends carrying a certification claim usually take Grade 1 or 2, because the certified pool is contracted at those grades first. Vending and price led programmes take 4a or 4b. The grade is part of the named profile, so a reorder repeats the same green specification as well as the same roast curve.
How does this differ from the dark roasted Lampung robusta?
It is roasted one step lighter at Agtron 44 to 50 rather than 38 to 44, and the Java green is milder to begin with. The result adds crema and body to a blend while keeping the cup smooth, which is what household moka and filter blends need. Lampung is the choice when you want a harder, more bitter base.
Can the finished pack carry a certification claim?
Yes. Rainforest Alliance and 4C certification runs from the producer group through our roastery, so the claim can appear on the finished pack rather than staying in the green contract. Transaction certificates ship with the goods, and certified volume is allocated at the June to October harvest.
Can you blend this robusta with arabica before shipping?
Yes, with our Java or Gayo arabica, blended before or after roasting depending on the recipe, then held as a named profile with a fixed green allocation so reorders repeat exactly. Components and ratios are stated on the specification sheet that ships with each production run.
What is the minimum order for roasted Java robusta?
1,000 kg per roast profile and grade, and a blend recipe containing it counts as its own profile against the same minimum. Lead time is two weeks with dispatch within seven days of roast. Sample roasts of 1 to 2 kg ship by air before the first production batch is scheduled.
