Lot overview
Our volume robusta roasted to the level espresso blenders and vending operators specify for thick crema and a bitter chocolate base. Whole bean or ground to espresso and vending grind, packed in 1 kg valve bags or 10 kg bulk foil. The green underneath is your choice: Grade 1 or 2 for a premium blend component, 4a and 4b for high volume programmes.
The roast and where it is used
Agtron whole bean 36 to 48, dark enough for the bitter chocolate and heavy crema an Italian style espresso blend expects and dark enough to survive the long hold times of vending and office machines. Our default sits at 38 to 44. As a component it usually makes up ten to thirty percent of a recipe, and as a straight product it serves traditional dark coffee markets.
Bulk formats and repacking
10 kg bulk foil is the format for buyers who repack or grind in their own facility, and 1 kg one-way valve bags in 12 kg cartons for buyers selling on as finished goods. Both carry roast date and lot number. Grinding to espresso or vending specification happens at packing so oxygen exposure before sealing is minimal.
Minimum, lead time, and repeat supply
1,000 kg per roast profile and grade, the highest minimum on our roasted range, because the green is our deepest volume coffee and the roast is a production run rather than a specialty batch. Lead time is two weeks, the shortest we quote, and repeat buyers hold a monthly schedule against a fixed green allocation.
Grades we quote on this robusta
Robusta runs the same SNI 01-2907 defect ladder as arabica, with Grade 4 split into 4a and 4b because that is where most export volume trades. Screen size is contracted separately from grade, so any row below can ship screen 13 up or screen 16 up depending on what your roaster or extraction line is set for.
| Grade | Defect value per 300 g | What buyers use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Grade 1 | 11 maximum | Espresso blends and premium soluble, normally taken screen 16 up |
| Grade 2 | 12 to 25 | Standard espresso and roast and ground blends for retail |
| Grade 3 | 26 to 44 | Volume blends, vending, and three in one mixes |
| Grade 4a | 45 to 60 | Grade 4a: soluble and extract, 45 to 60 defect values |
| Grade 4b | 61 to 80 | Soluble and instant production where yield matters more than cup |
| Grade 5 | 81 to 150 | Liquid coffee extract and low cost instant lines |
| Grade 6 | 151 to 225 | Industrial extraction, caffeine recovery, and non beverage use |
Frequently asked questions
Ordering, samples, shipping, and payment.
Which grade of green goes into this dark roast?
Whichever you contract, from Grade 1 to Grade 6. Espresso blenders wanting a premium crema component take Grade 1 or 2 screened 16 up. Vending, three in one, and traditional dark programmes normally run 4a or 4b, where the defect count is higher but a dark roast covers it. The grade is named on the contract with the target Agtron and held with the profile.
What is the minimum order for dark roasted Sumatra robusta?
1,000 kg per roast profile and grade, the highest minimum on our roasted range, because this is a production run on our deepest volume green rather than a specialty batch. Lead time is two weeks. Buyers taking it monthly hold a schedule against a fixed green allocation so the profile and the grade both stay identical.
Where is this dark roasted robusta used?
As the crema and body component in Italian style espresso blends at ten to thirty percent, in vending and office machines where coffee sits hot for long periods, and as a straight dark product in markets that drink robusta on its own. The bitter chocolate base is the point rather than a defect.
Is bulk packaging available for repacking?
Yes, 10 kg bulk foil for buyers who grind or repack in their own facility, alongside 1 kg one-way valve bags in 12 kg cartons for finished goods. Both carry roast date and lot number. Bulk foil keeps the same 12 month unopened shelf life rating as the retail format.
Can you supply this coffee pre-ground for vending?
Yes, ground to espresso or vending specification at the point of packing so the coffee is sealed into valve foil with minimal oxygen exposure. Tell us the machine and brew method rather than a micron figure and we set the grinder accordingly, then hold that setting with the named roast profile.
